MORAGA, Calif. - Days one and two of the SMC Fall Invite saw several Gaels reach the "elite eight" of their field of 32 players, with Jocelyn Massey still playing in the Singles B Group, Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
Massey defeated Megan Tagaioa of Sacramento State 6-0, 6-2, Mila Stanojevic from the University of Colorado 6-4, 6-1, and Cristina Flaquer of Fresno State 6-3, 6-3. Olivia Rook advance to the semifinals in that same bracket of 32.
Massey, Julia Ronney and Lene Mari Hovda each advanced to the quarterfinals in the A Flight Singles field of 32.
The tandems of Gabriela Tevez and Massey along with Liesl Pieters and Hovda each advanced to the B flight doubles quarter finals.
