RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The Saint Mary's women's tennis team started its road trip off on the right foot, with a 4-0 sweep over UC Riverside on Thursday afternoon.
The two programs met for the first time since 2024, as the Gaels have now won two of their last four matches. In the doubles portion of Thursday's match, Sofia Daryaie and Tiana Fox won their second match of the season, defeating Riverside's Kei Kato and Ramey Y, 6-3. First year players Sophie Stanton and Sydney Wilson also paired up for just the fourth time this season and were able to record their first win together, defeating Susannah Su and Kaia Paulo, 6-4.
The Gaels filled out all six singles spots and got wins from Daryaie, Wilson and senior Madison Weekley. Weekley won her team leading fifth dual of the 2026 season, defeating UCR's Susannah Su in the first set 6-2 before Su was forced to retire due to injury. Daryaie and Wilson each won their third dual of the season, with both coming in straight sets. From the clinching points in singles play, Saint Mary's won 30 games to just eight for UC Riverside as they cruised to the 4-0 victory.
