BVB | Gaels Continue Stellar Start with Wins Over Pacific and San Jose State at Spartan Beach
3/13/2026 8:26:00 PM | Women's Beach Volleyball
SAN JOSE, Calif. — For the first time in nine years, the Gaels have won 12 of their first 16 beach volleyball matches, defeating Pacific and San Jose State, 4-1 and 5-0 respectively, to move to 12-4 on the campaign. The Gaels continue to try and keep pace with their 2017 campaign, in which they won 16 of their first 20 matches, ultimately finishing that year with a record of 19-10.
The day started on neutral sand, as the Gaels met up with conference foe Pacific in San Jose for the second time this year. Fresh off of their first win of the season, the Tigers battled valiantly, but the Gaels were once again too much for rivals to the east, taking the match 4-1. Angelina Bour and Clarissa Klein got things going with a quick 21-13, 21-5 win in the two flight. Annah Legaspi and Isla Johnson were pushed to a third set in the fours, but battled back to win that third set 15-10, while Hannah Couch and Genevieve Bane won in straight sets at the ones, 21-9, 21-12 to secure the victory. The cherry on top was Hannah Glick and Barett Nolan remaining unbeaten when playing together, with a straight set win at the fives.
Match two of the day featured the Gaels and host Spartans in a third meeting in 2026. The Gaels took their first two meetings, 3-2 and 4-1, but left nothing to chance today, with a 5-0 sweep. Four of the five flights went the way of the Gaels in straight sets, while at the fours, Alisia Silverthorn and Annah Legaspi showed true grit in a tight 21-19, 19-21, 17-15 three set marathon win. The match marked both the 70th win and 119th match played for Hannah Couch moving her to third all-time for wins, and into a tie for most matches played in a Gael uniform with Karmin Brown. Hannah Glick and Barett Nolan remained unbeaten, now at 5-0 for the year after winning the fives in straight sets against the Spartans.
Saint Mary's will battle College of the Siskiyous and Cabrillo College tomorrow in San Jose.
