After scoring the game-winning goal this past weekend in the Gaels' 1-0 victory over San Diego, senior forward Brooklyn Smith has been named this week's department Student-Athlete of the Week. This is Smith's first time winning the award, and the second women's soccer representative this season after graduate student Savannah Schwarze took home the first Student-Athlete of the Week of the season.
A native of South Jordan, Utah, Smith picked up her second goal of the season and her first since the opening week of play for the Gaels. Smith was one of five Gaels to record three or more shots on target in the match, and led the Gaels with a game-high four shots on target over her 50 minutes of action off the bench. Saint Mary's remains tied for the NCAA Division I lead in shutouts with eleven on the season and lead the West Coast Conference with a .733 winning percentage.
