BIG BAT BRAXTON BROWN
Over the last two weeks, Gaels designated player Braxton Brown has been on an offensive tear. The junior out of Benicia has gone 10-for-30 at the plate in that stretch with three doubles, a triple, five home runs and 14 RBI. She currently leads the Gaels with five doubles, five home runs, 17 RBI and a 1.240 OPS for the season.
WELL DESERVED RECOGNITION
Saint Mary's was selected to the D1 Softball Mid-Major Top-25 for the first time this season, checking in at No. 23. Also on this list are San Diego State (No. 7), Long Beach State (No. 12) and Louisiana (No. 22), all of which the Gaels defeated in the past two weeks. West Coast Conference rival LMU also has earned their spot in the mid-major rankings, coming in at No. 11.
HANNAH THREE BAGS
Against Texas A&M, Hannah Ferguson ripped her fourth triple of the season, giving her a stranglehold for the conference lead in that category, and ranking her second in the country. She is now halfway to tying the single season program record for triples, and has logged nine total for her career, tying her for third most total in program history.
ABOUT THE PIONEERS
Sacred Heart is off to a 2-8 start on the young campaign, featuring a couple of losses last week at Saint Mary's common foes Sacramento State and UC Davis. The Pioneers will now stick around in Northern California to take on the Gaels before heading home to Fairfield, Connecticut for their home and conference opener this weekend. 20th year head coach Pam London looks to right the ship quickly here in 2026, as she looks for her first winning season since 2019. No single player has contributed more for the Pioneers this year than senior Swiss army knife Sam Kowalski. The fourth year SHU standout not only leads the team in innings pitched and strikeouts, but also ranks number one on her squad in batting average, slugging percentage, OPS, home runs and runs scored. The Gaels are unbeaten in four previous meetings against the Pioneers.
ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
Riding a four game winning streak, the Fresno State Bulldogs currently sit at 8-7, and will take on Cal State Bakersfield on Tuesday before seeing the Gaels for a doubleheader on Saturday. Charlotte Morgan is in her first season in the Valley after winning 109 games in the previous five years at CSUN. Ace Lauryn Carranco followed Coach Morgan from CSUN to Fresno State after earning all-conference honors in each of her first three seasons with the Matadors. She already has four shutouts in nine starts, good for second most in the country. These will be the 35th and 36th all-time meetings between the Bulldogs and Gaels.
ABOUT THE SPARTANS
San Jose State will be the Gaels' third and final opponent of the week. The Spartans are just 5-14 on the year, and have yet to log their first home win of the season. Now in her sixth season at the helm, Tammy Lohman reached the 100-win mark this season, and will play Santa Clara and Saint Mary's this week, looking for a couple of signature victories against the defending WCC Co-Champs. With eight extra base hits and a team-high 14 RBI, Reina Zermeno has led the Spartans this year, now her fourth with the program. The Gaels and Spartans will be squaring off for the 60th and 61st times in program history,
